I was going to go flying yesterday. Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas, and with winds gusting to almost 30 knots I decided that I’d stay tied down for the day and avoid any close calls with meteorology.
Meteorology bad.
I am planning to go flying this Friday. I’ll be alone, and I’m not sure where I want to go. I have the plane for about an hour and a half which is not quite enough for a cross-country but more than enough for some local flying. So I’ve come up with a few choices: a skyline tour, a scenic trip to Lake Geneva, or a trip to the practice area to do some more air work.
The skyline is always fun, but it is sort of a hassle getting back as I’m not familiar with the “Eisenhower Transition.” I prefer not to take a “transition” that I’m not sure of between a busy Class B and a busy Class C; I would be too paranoid about busting airspace to have any fun, so I avoid the transition and fly south of Midway to loop back up to Schaumburg.
Instead of the skyline, I’ve considered flying up to scenic Lake Geneva to drill some holes in the sky. The foliage could be beautiful, though I worry that I might have missed peak color. It would still be a pretty flight.
Alternately, I could hit the practice area and work on ground reference maneuvers and the like.
So, I’m opening the lines to the two people who actually read this thing. What do you think would be the most fun flight? Unlike the real election, your vote might mean something on this poll!
